Perhaps there will be a strong change in the Conservative movement, in a sense that I would regard as both bad and good. But at the moment, I’m not entirely optimistic in the notion that the newly-found populist stance of the Conservative movement since Trump will necessarily lead to a better direction towards what I would call as a small-government, federalist-oriented Conservative movement that I desire.
Indeed, even as Libertarians press charges onto Conservative for being ‘reactionary’ or ‘extreme’, the fact is that hardly I’ve found anything more than extreme other than occasionally bombastic tweets by the former President when he was President. I might never understand why some supposed Libertarians are willing to stand by Joe Biden over Trump or even Jo Jorgensen.
Anyway, there is a line between sensible policies and stances that I would wish Conservatives would adopt, such as drug decriminalization and legalization of prostitution. Of course, there is hardly anything Conservative about drugs or prostitution, but if I were to elaborate the argument further and further, I guess I could develop this into an essay about such position, but if I were to (maybe overly condense and shorten such topics) say without backlash, maximalist property rights – where people can discriminate against degenerates as, if people are capable of rallying for political gains, then it should be easy for individuals doing their part in preventing degeneracy. If I were to develop this into a thesis for Social Conservatism under the mantra of Libertarianism, it will be long.
But the simple reality has always been like this, Conservatism always encompasses the ideals of which espoused by both Fiscal and Social Conservatism. It is very hard to just simply condense everything that the great Roger Scruton written as I’ve recently finished reading one of his works. Similarly is the case for writers of which Conservatives should have embraced such as the great Ludwig von Mises and Friedrich von Hayek. Ideals concerning the family, moral order, responsible individuals as well as the bonds of the community while keeping the autocrats and bureaucrats away from harming us, economically and culturally are those ideas of which I and many Conservatives stand for.
Yet to my dismay, the so-called supporters of ‘Big Tent Conservatism’ isn’t so passionately focused on examining themselves, but rather, advocate tirelessly without consideration. While hardly am I a populist as I’m not a fierce endorser of organization such as Turning Point USA, but I will applaud those who are principled enough to resist degeneracy by disavowing the self-described ‘Conservative Porn Star’ Brandi Love (Warning: Sexual Material). It is simple Conservatism to distance yourselves, or at least keep it to yourself, your weird and perhaps undesirable habits instead of flaunting itself. To argue that we must be ‘tolerant’ as Conservatives to advance our ideals through the political system yet we can’t preserve the tenets of we so treasured is the same mistake of which the Socialists made when they advance the collective without knowledge or accounting is a blunder of which we are committing ourselves to.
My simple question to those Conservatives of which defends such ‘Big Tent’ by including degeneracy is this: Is there room to promote sexual promiscuity and degeneracy in the open public? Open up Brandi’s twitter account and you’ll be greeted by promotions of pages containing sexual materials. One can certainly argue that, unlike those degenerate Pride™ Parades where people flaunt their kinks and other grotesque behaviors, such pages can be restricted and only for adults. How ironic is that fact that even as America is at a point where out-of-wedlock children are more common than ever, of which mainstream Conservatives crow about yet comes to the defense of Porn Stars. Psychological studies have shown that people are more likely to end up lonely when addicted to pornography.
The crass argument for acceptance is hollow at best, self-destructive and harmful at worst. And so is the argument against so-called ‘zealots’. Is it an irrational zealot of which objects to sexual deviancy? To argue that there is pride for degeneracy as a Conservative is an eradication of responsible individualism and faithfulness in marriage, of which are core to Conservatism. Conservatism isn’t just simply standing and saying ‘I’m pro-life’, ‘I’m pro Second Amendment’ or ‘I’m pro-border’. It’s something more than political sloganeering. Bernie Sanders supported border control on the reason that he asserted that it took American jobs. There are Libertarians out there who are pro-Life and pro-Second Amendment. Those Conservatives who don’t get the point of Conservatism are simply, and loosely called Rightist Liberals, not Conservative. If so, I’d recommend ‘Conservatives’ to start off with Scruton’s small, yet effective introduction into Conservatism. Better, start off with How to be a Conservative.
There’s nothing Conservative about porn stars or porn. Sure, keep it to yourself, but don’t attempt to flaunt it and conflate it with Conservatism. Those ‘Conservatives’ who defend open degeneracy are not Conservatives, but are more sensible, yet ineffective Liberals operating under the mantra of Conservatism.
